v0.0.115
Released Oct 15, 2026
Release Notes
Quick audits in the CLI now check the links that leave your site, as Surface and Full already do. At Quick they are checked from your machine and the link checks cost no credits. squirrel audit --offline stops checking anything on another site, and the inbound-link rules stop flagging the page a crawl starts on. Cloud audit defaults are unchanged in this release.
Changed
- Quick audits in the CLI check external links too. Every audit level now checks the links that leave your site, Quick included.
- A Quick audit checks them from your machine, signed in or not, and the link checks cost no credits.
- A Quick audit now also requests the pages your site links to on other sites, signed out included, so it can take a little longer.
- Skip them with
--no-external-linksor[external_links] enabled = false.--offlinestill skips them. - Cloud audits keep their current link check settings for now. Any change to the cloud defaults will be announced separately.
- See Link checking defaults.
links/broken-external-linksno longer calls every link it could not verify "blocked by WAF". Many are not a firewall: a timeout, a CDN error page or a 404 waiting for its confirming check lands in the same list. The row now reads{count} external link(s) could not be verified - status unverifiable, and each item reads(unverified), with a vendor added when the checker named one. The check name,waf-blocked-external-links, is unchanged. See broken external links.
Fixed
squirrel audit --offlineno longer status-checks anything on another site: the third-party scripts, stylesheets and fonts the pages load, and sitemap URLs on another site, are left alone.reliability/broken-resourcesreports the third-party resources as not measured on an offline run, andcrawl/sitemap-4xxsays how many sitemap URLs on another site it skipped. Requests to the audited site can still end up on another host when the site sends them there: a page or asset redirect, or a sitemap that robots.txt lists on another host. See audit.links/orphan-pages,links/weak-internal-linksandlinks/no-contextual-inboundno longer report the page the crawl started on. When a site's root redirects to a deeper page (/en/, or a sign-in page), the redirect leads there, and often no link does, or only the logo in every header does, so the site's front door read as a page with too few incoming links.integrity/orphan-pagealready exempted it. See links/orphan-pages.
